Dive Journal: This, we know, will be our last dive from Salt Cay, and so we pick one of our favorites: Powerhouse. Now that John is starting to get pretty comfortable, we’re hoping this will be a good dive to see lots of fish.

Of course, there is no disappointment here. Right off the bat we see another yellow trumpetfish, and then encounter the big schools of grunts and schoolmasters. There is also a big friendly grey angelfish who hangs around for a while.

John and Mom stayed relatively shallow this dive while Michael and I explored deeper. Around 100’ we enjoyed a big school of tiny juvenile blue chromis and some huge sponges. A couple porcupinefish skirted by us, too.

This was Johnny’s first 2-dive day, and is a testament to his getting more comfortable with all the gear. Again, this was our last dive directly off the island of Salt Cay (for this trip anyway). We’re not sad, however – there is more diving scheduled for tomorrow off Grand Turk.

“Welcome to Salt Cay!”
