Night dives are becoming one of our favorite diving activities.
Videograph by Rich Torkington in BVI 2004
Dive Journal: We take a nice long sail northward around the eastern end of Beef Island and finally anchor in a cove called Muskmelon Bay off Guana Island for the night. Our night dive here also starts out by dinghy but we then swim back to the anchored Cuan Law. We start out over a reef and discover 4 reef squid, some nice banded cleaner shrimp, and a juvenile octopus. The octopus squirms around alot and changes lots of colors, including a cool iridescent shade of green.

Emerging over the sand flats, we find a small southern stingray with only ½ a tail. We then come across a “garden” of upsidedown jellyfish, with frilly pale green undersides. It is strange to see them pulse continuously downward into the sand. We also play around with some tiny little flounders and a few hermit crabs.
