“Gooooooooooooooooooooood morning aboard the AquaCat! Wakey wakey, we got bakey”, croons Jim, around 8am. It’s very soon time for our first dive in the Exumas, a site called “Up Jumped the Devil.” I’m not real sure where we are - the Internet lists it at N24 50.20 and W76 47.68 - which puts us in the far northern end of the Exuma Islands. No matter – it feels good to be away from the signs of Nassau and civilization. This site is very nice, a beautiful steep wall with hundreds of holes and swimthroughs. The first one we fin through has a cloud of silverside that part as we go. We journey south along the wall and run into a pretty young tiger grouper. There are also a pair of stunning queen angelfish who are not shy about having divers around. Johnny runs a little thin on air, and so we come up after only 45 minutes. While Johnny and I are exiting, Linda and Janel managed to come across a school of Atlantic spadefish and a few big barracuda. | |||||||||
