Dive Journal: Very early in the morning, the captain starts up the AquaCat motors and we begin our trip to the Exuma Islands.

“Gooooooooooooooooooooood morning aboard the AquaCat! Wakey wakey, we got bakey”, croons Jim, around 8am.

It’s very soon time for our first dive in the Exumas, a site called “Up Jumped the Devil.” I’m not real sure where we are - the Internet lists it at N24 50.20 and W76 47.68 - which puts us in the far northern end of the Exuma Islands. No matter – it feels good to be away from the signs of Nassau and civilization.

This site is very nice, a beautiful steep wall with hundreds of holes and swimthroughs. The first one we fin through has a cloud of silverside that part as we go. We journey south along the wall and run into a pretty young tiger grouper. There are also a pair of stunning queen angelfish who are not shy about having divers around.

Johnny runs a little thin on air, and so we come up after only 45 minutes. While Johnny and I are exiting, Linda and Janel managed to come across a school of Atlantic spadefish and a few big barracuda.
