We saw these Panamic green moray eels early and often in the East Capes.

Dive Journal: We take a long boat ride from Los Barriles up to La Paz, and Linda is enchanted by a big school of porpoises that follows along with us, rolling and jumping with the boat. This is as far north as Vista Sea Sport goes, and we feel lucky to experience these dives.

We’re anchored off Isla Cerralvo, a little bit southeast of it I believe, but on the northwest edge of a huge submerged “rock island.” There are tons of crevices here and loads of fish, including king angels, scissortail damselfish, barberfish, and cortez rainbow wrasses. A mild current propels us along at an easy drift pace.

We enjoy seeing yet more panamic green moray eels here, in addition to reef cornetfish, greybar grunts, guineafowl puffers (both regular and golden phase), orangeside triggerfish, longsnout butterflyfish (the Sea of Cortez version of them), and spotted porcupinefish (big ones).

A very fine and enjoyable dive. I shot video during this dive but it came out somewhat wavy due to the thermoclines.
