Janel finds and rubs the lucky porthole at the wreck of the RMS Rhone
Videocap by Rich Torkington in the BVIs 2006
Dive Journal: In the afternoon, we enjoy a fun-filled re-enactment of the Rhone story on board the Cuan Law, which is especially entertaining as told by Captain Steve. We get a very thorough briefing of the dive site, then head off to the aft section of the wreck.

We do an especially nice tour of the boiler, the galley, and the ship’s midsection with its ribs splayed wide open. We then circle back and do a swimthrough the stern and over the large partially submerged propeller, a remarkable sight.

Janel and I explore around for a while and finally locate the ship’s lucky porthole, where we both give it a rub. We then locate the captain’s spoon. There is plenty of great macro exploring to do over the wreck as well.

Nearing the end of the dive, we find and explore a pretty cool vertical rock “room” located just off the tip of the stern, a little bit SSE of the wreck.
