Dive Journal: For clarification, Playa Miramar is actually located some 12 miles south of Puerto Penasco, out the road towards Caborca, then out over the dirt roads and over the sand dunes. Miramar Trailer Park, on the other hand, is located in town just next to Manny's Beach Club, just seaward of the punto.

The nice comfortable dive we took here last year convinces us to use this dive as a refresher. The boat ramp entry is especially forgiving, and the fishlife is friendly.

We are not disappointed. We have great close-up approaches of the many cabrilla and triggerfish. Once we reach the sand flats beyond the rocks, a dozen and a half cabrilla surround us as we lay down in the sand. When I find a clam and crack it open with my dive knife, there is a feeding frenzy as they compete for it! [Yeah, I know, not exactly the natural order of things, but it was fun anyway.]

On the swim back to the boat ramp, we spot three Cortez angelfish in the shallows. They are swimming very oddly, frequently parallel (sideways) to the bottom. Weird. Linda also finds a sea cucumber and a well camoflaged scorpionfish among the barnacled rocks.

We are both actually a bit chilly near the dive's end and we cut it shorter than our air permits. We basically follow an out-and-back dive plan, but we veer a bit west towards the point as well.

We enjoy one of my favorite things following this dive - a trek over to the fish market to enjoy fish tacos and cerveza. Tastes incredibly great after a dive! And it sure feels good to do a dive again!
