Somewhat low vis but this is a fun dive.

Dive Journal: The new business has definitely sucked away my time for diving, but not for long. Linda and I have scheduled a 2000 summer trip to Belize, and so we decide to do our "hometown" Rocky Point dive again as a refresher at Miramar Trailer Park.

During the summer of 1999, my daughter Janel (13) has completed her PADI training both at El Mar for poolwork and then off Oahu, Hawaii for open water work. She is now a PADI Junior Advanced Open Water diver. Linda has also completed her PADI Advanced coursework. Both of them lose few opportunities to remind me of their training superiority. This is my first open water dive with Janel.

What a nice comfortable dive! There is a bit of surf this day but not too bad once we're in the water. The paparazzi (of cabrilla) surrounds us almost immediately - they seem to love close approaches. There seems to be an increased number of juvenile triggerfish seen, and they are much less skittish than usual. Linda spots her usual here - both a scorpionfish and a sea cucumber. Her eye is certainly better than mine.

We follow a course out from the boat ramp due south, and locate a tire there at the edge of the sand flats. This tire proves to be a great navigation landmark, since we then swim a long distance west and then return to the tire.

The surf gives both Linda and Janel some problems on exit - but nothing major. Then off to Coctel Mary's again - bring on the fish tacos!
