Dive Journal: Due to the sting experience, John sits out this second dive of the day. I can’t blame him. Linda is cold as well, and so she sits this one out, too.

We are told that Kelly’s Follies is so named due to the misfortune (or demise?) of a female diver named Kelly at this site. The conditions here in the late morning are glass smooth and the visiblity couldn’t be better. Above the reef wall, we immediately see loads of tall coral stands amidst a white sandy bottom, one of my favorite diving conditions. Lots of canyons and crevices to explore. Especially good for video, although I haven’t brought my camera along on this dive.

I spy one of my very favorites, a solitary indigo hamlet. There is a nice school of mahogany snappers that careens down the slope of the wall. Topside, there are several HUGE schoolmasters hovering in mini-caves, and several spotted morays curled up into the tops of coral heads.

We both enjoy loads of exploring beneath the boat after the wall tour. I just love diving and holding hands with Janel. Following this long dive, I’m pretty cold, but the nice surface breezes quickly dry me up (after a few more minutes of shivering), and then the warmth returns quickly.
