Dive Journal: The afternoon dive is a special event for me – my 100th dive! It is no big deal, but I do feel grateful and fortunate to have thoroughly enjoyed my diving so much up to this point.

This afternoon takes us to the Rockery, also just off the leeward side of Salt Cay. Janel is enjoying taking the video and does the shooting again this dive.

There are some nice schools of blue chromis, which, for some reason, we find very difficult to photograph. It is something about the blue color and the effect of water in selectively permitting blue light through. The camera is never happy trying to focus on these critters.

Janel takes some excellent video of a school of barracudas that buzzes us upon entry. She also catches sight of a jolthead porgy and a scrawled filefish, and a couple great queen angelfish. Near the end of the dive, a big southern stingray cruises by us and settles into a sandy patch. Janel gets lots of video while the stingray ruffles up and covers himself with sand.

“Welcome to Salt Cay!”
